Being an HR manager is a very difficult task in implementing policies and procedures. They are often targeted for being diplomatic with both management and employees. They act as mediators between all levels of employees in an organization. They are leaders, who are not born but made by influential circumstances. They are very approachable. It usually takes some time to build trust but it worth it.
Communication breaks the barrier. HR should be soft-spoken with employees. They should develop a gesture that employees share their grievances. A line manager should try that his immediate employee doesn’t go to HR with his problem meanwhile an HR should ensure that the employee feels secure in sharing the details of the problem. Effective communication solves the problem which is about to arise. HR should have patience while dealing with employees. Grievances are always handled by HR with good command of policies and procedures.
HR always inspires other people in an organization. They often set role models. They deal with issues sensitively. They often act as ice-breakers. They set an example for other people. They are the decision-makers. They help to maintain an organization in a very effective manner. They deal with a lot many problematic situations often out of the comfort zone issues. They are the trendsetters. They are a continuous learner. They inspire other beginners to be the next generation leaders.
Being an HR evolves with lots of responsibilities. They should be well versed in the Policies and procedures of the organization. The rights of employees are being implemented for the benefits of an employee. HR should be able to handle any kind of dispute, labor issues, Trade unions problems. They should be patient enough to listen to any kind off disputes with the management changes in policies. They make it easy for employees to understand the benefits of it.
Being an HR is not at all easy task. Being Successful you need to understand the business in which your company is involved. So that you have achieved an easy way of understanding the loopholes in the process or grievance area. If you understand the business well, then hiring an appropriate candidate will make things easy. However, technically the process heads take care of technical round but to save time it is always preferred to be knowledgeable. A business partner said to be in another sense too. HR also saves time and cost too. Employee retention, employee engagement, awards, and rewards are various ways to cost-effectiveness. Using sensible methods to assess the performance of an employee makes it easy for the company.
Being an HR, you should be a quick learner. Able to cope up with current trends will be adding another feather in your cap. HR should be comfortable with the company’s culture so that he can ensure that the employee also feels the same. HR should be very intrinsically motivated so that nothing should let him down. If he adapts quickly, he will be able to identify the areas of improvement. Learning and development are the core tools of one’s success. Being an HR also includes various other sub-division like learning and development, compensation & benefits and many more. Man being social animal adaptability is very natural.
Maintaining transparency in policies and procedures is always expected out of HR. But the atmosphere of a company should also be transparent. In terms of the promotion of sub-ordinates, or any staff the procedure should be transparent. People should not feel abandoned. They must be aware of the selection criteria. Even if a person is disqualified, he must be aware of the reason. Proper feedback should be shared with him as it is his basic right and he can also improve his skill set in case if he is lacking any. On management discretion, if there is a need to put a person on a bench or remove under the circumstances. HR should be fair enough to negotiate a notice period with the employer.
A good HR manager should understand that hiring the correct person for the job is an asset. Though Human Resource itself says about resources however employee should be treated as an asset, not a liability. If a motivated and skilled employee joins the organization he prospers along with the organization. He brings the new joy of success.
A wrong hire for an organization can affects other employees and lower the standards of the organization. It can demoralize people towards their company.
HR should understand and analyze the importance of a culture of the company and engage an employee with work, fun activities and various another rewards scheme. Nowadays all are working with MNCs. They follow Indian culture but majorly they focused on client culture where he is staying and following the customs. HR act as a barrier for the employee to deal with cultural shock. HR makes them aware of cultural practices exist in the company for easy handling of rules.
